ADVENTURE, CONNECTION, AND PURPOSE ON THE SLOPES.
Double Diamond Ski & Snowboard Club
About Us
The Double Diamond Ski & Snowboard Club (DDSSC) is a veteran-led, volunteer supported, not for profit enterprise that designs and delivers well-organised alpine trips, training and events for the veteran community.
We operate with a simple objective: create consistent, affordable and professionally run opportunities for veterans to reconnect through shared challenge in the mountains.
For us, time in the mountains is not just recreation. It builds resilience, restores connection and reinforces purpose. If we are not getting our community to the snow regularly, we are not doing our job.
Our activities are structured, safe and community focused. Trips are planned and led by experienced veterans and skiers who understand both the operational environment and the importance of peer support. From first chair to last run, members are backed by a team that values preparation, mateship and accountability.
What We Do
SIGNATURE TRIPS
We run a small number of planned flagship programs each year, including Japow in Japan each January, Kiwipow in New Zealand each September, along with domestic alpine trips across the Australian ski season.
SKILLS & MENTORING
We leverage our network of experienced skiers and snowboarders to mentor members in technique, terrain selection, mountain safety and environmental awareness. Knowledge is shared peer to peer, helping everyone build confidence and capability on snow.
LOCAL DAYS ON SNOW
Throughout winter we coordinate ad hoc day trips and short stays at Victorian resorts, aligned to conditions, weather and member availability, making it easier for people to get to the mountains more often.
COMMUNITY & NETWORKING
Year-round social events and professional networking evenings featuring guest speakers from industry and ex-military backgrounds.
ONGOING SUPPORT
DDSSC operates as an active year round network, not just a series of trips. We use our activities as a platform to support members through mentoring, shared experience and practical peer guidance, both on the slopes and across life as a serving member, veteran or transitioned member.
The strength of the club sits in the relationships built along the way, with members backing each other well beyond the mountains.
